September 16, 2026 launch
Pre-launch briefing
A shareable guide for Desirable Properties workgroup members and coordinators ahead of the September 16, 2026 Community Review Draft milestone.
The Layered Web: Community Review Draft and Governance Feedback Workflow
Why this page exists
The September 16, 2026 launch is new. The latest AI model enabled editorial synthesis across hundreds of community proposals. This milestone delivers a scoped Community Review Draft, not the complete Version 1.0 book.
What happened
More than 300 community proposals were reconciled by Astra, the editorial synthesis workflow. The result is 117 traceable changes across 22 chapters, each with full provenance in Canopi and Astra change records.
DP23 was reviewed and left unchanged for this release.
Public milestone: The Layered Web: Community Review Draft and Governance Feedback Workflow (September 16, 2026).
What this is not
- Not Desirable Properties Version 1.0 – the mature edition remains targeted for November 13, 2026.
- Not every valid proposal integrated – many strong ideas are preserved for future editorial cycles rather than forced into this launch window.
- Not replacing Gov Hub ML-Draft baselines or Canopi patching – workgroups continue to patch and steward drafts on Gov Hub and Canopi; Astra synthesis sits alongside that workflow.
What members can do
- Read the Astra tab in your workgroup to see synthesized chapter text and individual change records.
- Propose passage changes on book Discuss (PATCH/INSERT) or as Gov Hub draft patches, then evaluate them on the Review tab (yes/no and optional comment, workgroup members only).
- Discuss proposals and reactions in workgroup chat.
- Comment on chapters on the book (book.desirableproperties.org).
- Suggest improvements through chat, book Discuss (PATCH/INSERT), and Gov Hub draft patches.
What coordinators and leads can do
- Revoke misfit Astra patches on the Astra tab when a change does not fit your chapter. Restore a revoked patch from the same list.
- On the Review tab, two separate actions: Promote to revision (or drop / leave pending) composes the next revision draft and does not go live. Publish revision is a later release that makes that draft the live book / official text. Synthesize Approve is neither.
- Invite members and co-leads through workgroup invite tools.
